reunited.
its funny how people pass through your life.
one minute they're in your world, affecting you in some way, making an impression and the next minute they're gone leaving you with memories of the times you once shared. earlier this week, an old friend came into town and i was SO happy!

last night a dj saved my life
besides my usual 9 to 5 adventures, i haven't had the desire to venture out this week. someone even dared to call me an old lady! i did manage to go to this event:
i got there around 12, just in time to see my friend Jerome doing his usual crowd moving, so the place had a great vibe. a little after the Baltimore house music was at its peak, i made my way to Duke's City where there's a great dancehall party every thursday by a few dj's including my friend Gary aka DJ Nemesis
Nemesis (l) to the worrllll'

my weekends typically begin on a wednesday. is that normal? and no, i dont live in the club!

so its been almost a week since i've last posted. and i've gotten reminders from people alerting me to that fact in case i forgot. imagine my surprise when viewing my counter.
i realize thats not a significant amount in the large scheme of things, but, when did that happen? you crazy birds actually care about the shit i have to say?? i love you too!
100?!?

The Wackness

"give me the green liiight..."
think i may have an emotional attachment to this song, not sure.
one of the reasons i like andre benjamin so much is because he is a lover of the ad lib as much as i am. his ramblings towards the ends are funny...

the process
the past couple of days i've had a lot of things on my mind. im always over-thinking things, so this isn't anything new. but after a series of events i'm too tired to care.
i look like myself. act like myself.
but i sound like this guy:
by the way, i much prefer Eeyore to all the other characters...
i look like myself. act like myself.
but i sound like this guy:

whenever that happens, and i need to recharge, i listen to music and sleep. sometimes at the same time. i also eat. and sleep some more. i might start cleaning something. you may not hear from me for a day or two, either. like a mini vacation from my brain and everyone else. the problem is, i did all that and i only feel a little better.
i even changed my profile pic on facebook. nothing.
and its around that time in this "dealing process" that i start on some serious retail therapy. im really trying to practice restraint there because your girl is focused and is trying to 'budget' and make some moves in the near future. so i'm still dealing...
one day i'll overstand.

EXCEPT (i cant help myself.. ), please note:
- the flag burning in the fire place
- Michelle's hair (wtf?!?)
- Barack's clothes
- Osama's framed portrait on the wall
- Michelle and Barack are standing 'on top of the world'
ignorance is soo prevalent in this country its sad. In other news, i got my stimulus check in the mail today.

Blu @ Black Cat DC
the show was already running an hour behind.
i was busy texting a few friends when these two guys in front of me (we'll call them Jim from Tennessee and Maleek from DC) decided to look over their shoulders and chat me up.

Jim: *mumbles something while staring at me*
me: i'm sorry..?
Maleek: yea, she looks like she knows Blu.
me: well, no...not personally. do you?
J&M: *laughing ensues*
me: *they get my trademark polite smile/rolling of the eyes*
J: yea, i drove all the way from Tennessee to see him perform
me: REALLY?!? wow...
M: where are you from?
me: i live in Maryland.
M: but where are you from?
me: Jamaica.
J: OHMYGOSH really?!? my best friend is Jamaican, he runs track with me and...
me: *my polite smile/rolling of the eyes combo was cut short cus Blu walks on stage with a huge grin on his face*

yes, and he killed it performing favorites (for those who are familiar) from his first album, Below The Heavens like Dancing in The Rain, Blu Colla Workers, and my absolute favorite:
i think its important to note that Jim from Tennessee knew allll the lyrics to every song.
and, yea, Exile was there in all his djing glory LOL
great show, and that was just the opener. i understand he killed it in NYC, as well?

photo love.
i've been doing my usual idle browsing on the internets, and came across this site. it invites up and coming photographers to submit photos of the person most important to them. the collection is funny, irreverent, and slightly addicting as i wait to hear from the ones i love...

herfavcolor
while the color blue isnt my favorite color, i am--and have been--feeling this young man.
He performs at the Black Cat in D.C. tonight....im in therrrre.
Blu is a rapper based in the L.A. area, is a Preacher's son, has been homeless several times, and is very nice with the freestyle. I love watching him perform (just check out his YouTube videos) and thanks to his producer, Exile, there is a soulfulness about him that makes you want to listen to every word.

it IS camille
a friend of mine was confused about the name of my blog. i guess i should've explained it earlier.
i was so conflicted in starting a blog, because everyone and their mama's cousin has one. i felt the thoughts that i had to put out there may be too reckless for some, or simply mundane (you'll come to find my thoughts are anything but mundane). i eventually chose the title i guess its camille because i knew it would be about me (hence the name) and all other titles including my name were taken! dont know what thats about because i dont know any camille's personally...
so, i guess it IS me...here i am.
take it or leave it. one day you'll overstand.

confession:
i may have a sight, teeny-tiny, girlcrush.
apparently she's been an "it-girl" (whatever that means) for a while now, but i recently came across her photo while reading the current issue of Vogue at the hair salon.
i would love to know how this black woman who is reportedly only 27 years of age (voter registration info tells differently, tabloids do their homework!) manages to have designers throwing their clothes at her, receives invites to all the hot events, AND affords an ultra swanky apartment filled with pricey artwork. HOW?!?

Somebody please tell me how she became famous for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING a la Paris Hilton?? its reported that she's an "interior decorator" with no real college education and is financially supported by a wealthy exboyfriend. so no one knows what she really does. its like she's a 2008 version of Holly Golightly.
slightly envious of her swagger is all...just kidding. no, really.

the elusive Ms. Genevieve Jones

Labels or Love
my friend kiwi just left the DMV and moved to NYC. they say people move to new york for labels or love (yea i jacked that from Sex and the City..). her reasons are a little different, with new priorities cus she's a brand new mama. but this post is to remind her of all the madness we'd get into pre-preggers:

whats a four hour drive..?

there goes the roster.
so fourth of july came and went. i realized just now the holiday passed without my taking any pictures. this is strange because everyone knows i document everything. it was a weird mix of parring with old and new friends. another reminder that the social circles of D.C. are slowly closing in on me. over all it was a nice break from work, and my usual running around.
im not the ultra-patriotic type, but i did hit up a few BBQ's and had some apple pie. U Street was especially packed over the weekend because it was the 25th celebration of the Ethiopian Soccer Tournament. wish i knew more about that to expound.
i was updating some friends on my love life, and how i've recently thrown out my roster...by that, i mean my prospects, my team, whatever you'd like to name it. guys and girls both have it. i got every reaction raging from "are you ready for this?" to "im not even acknowledging that situation to shit on it".
one day they'll overstand.

SPRRUNGG!
I believe thats the term that best defines my current state of mind. or heart, rather.
i've been diagnosed by a few close friends, and the verdict is in. really not sure when this happened because singledom was a great look for me! or so i thought. you see, i'm the type of woman who (and will probably continue to) always have male friends. i have male friends in abundance. i generally cant keep girlfriends, with the exception of my bestie who i've been hitched to since the age of 9 or so.
and then i met a man who saw our potential, waayy before i even could. and i wont lie. this has happened before. usually, the guy is more into me than i am. but he waited...and waited because i'm a stubborn child. and i love him for that.
i don't think he's ready for the craziness that is camille.
