DC Carnival 2008

As an islander, i fulfilled my obligatory duty to "get on bad" at DC Carnival 2008. I love that people of all races and nationalities feel welcome to participate. thats exactly what Caribbean people embody, really. history tells it.

I took my little brother, J because he's the most americanized immigrant little boy i know. I'm trying desperately to get him to soak up some culture. he wasn't ready:

all in all it was a great event. i wondered though, right after the parade was done (and i do mean two secs after), why the street cleaners were so intent on cleaning the road. not that i'm complaining, but Georgia Avenue never got a wash down like that before. you could've mistook it for a street in Canada.

and i'm not a huge fan of Soca, but this one gets girls moving every time:
